Mehedi Marof is a journalist from Bangladesh who covers politics, the environment, and social changes. He is now with the Netra News, a Sweden-based outlet focused on Bangladesh. He also reports independently for outlets like Al Jazeera, NBC, The Diplomat, and Dialogue Earth.
Mehedi previously worked full-time for Bangladeshi leading English daily - The Business Standard. His works also appeared on The Wire, Scroll.in, Eco-Business, Climate Diplomacy, The Daily Star, Dhaka Tribune, and Prothom Alo.
His fearless coverage of the 'student-led protests that ousted Bangladesh’s longest-serving prime minister' earned high praise from academics, fellow journalists, and the public alike. Shortly after, his 2000-word exposé for Al Jazeera—which over fifty top Bangladeshi and Indian media outlets picked up—reverberated largely across the national discourse and influenced state policy.
Mehedi graduated Summa Cum Laude from one of the top private media schools in Bangladesh, ULAB - with major in Digital Journalism and minor in English. He maintained a CGPA of 3.98 out of 4, earning Vice Chancellor's Award and Dean's Award.
Mehedi also worked as a Research Assistant (RA) at the Center for Sustainable Development - where he substantially contributed to a study on coastal fishers.
